the art of self

from $39.00

the story behind the art: I was forty minutes into the movie Swan Song and decided to be proactive about being on time to meet my friend, who was going to perform a sound bath. But the plans of mice and men oft go awry6. The movie generated so many thoughts within me that I had to paint them on the canvas immediately. I grabbed the largest canvas I had to hand and pulled out my large primary color paint tubes and palette knives. A drop cloth was conveniently spread across the floor from the previous day’s paint session. I painted in flow for an hour with music playing in the background and was only thirty or forty minutes late to meet my friend. I always forget about the time it takes to clean up and change post-session. Fortunately, this friend is on the same time wavelength as me, and those who aren’t no longer expect me to arrive punctually.

There are so many things I see when taking in this painting. I love to gaze at it and ponder the forms I see and their relation to the art of realizing and becoming one’s true self.
