the story behind the art: I spent a year painting for everyone else but me. I bought a home and reserved the space above the living room sofa for the largest art piece I would have created up to that point. I knew the color scheme I wanted—tans, gold, earthy tones. Clearly, that is not what the canvas wanted. Surrendering to flow always yields surprising results. This piece is more lovely than what I could have intentionally created. There’s a tower amid an ocean storm if you look in the right spot—any forms you see are serendipitous. According to Lalah Delia, “Everyone has to journey through and cross their own ocean. ... The journey brings you to the ocean to gain inner balance and peace” (quote by Lalah Delia).
