Les danseurs noirs 2
the story behind the art: This is my ode to Degas and his famous piece Les Danseurs Bleus. I created the background with acrylics on a canvas panel and added the dancers as a digital overlay. I was inspired by my print of Les Danseurs Bleus that hangs on my dining room south gallery wall. It was important to me to show black dancers in the ballet space with various skin tones and types of hair. There is also at least one non-binary dancer in my piece as well because representation matters.
